Sunday, December 6 is the second Sunday of Advent and on it we remember love! We all long for it. We all need it. Yet love is a tricky thing. You've probably been disappointed by love and maybe even devastated in the pursuit of it. Many have done desperate and strange things to find it. But there is no guarantee with love...or is there?
When God came to earth in the form of a little baby, he did so to show us a love that can never fail. You may have heard the verse from the Bible that says "for God so loved the world that he sent his one and only Son..." (John 3:16). God reached out to us for no other reason than that he loves us, you and me. If you say "yes" to God's love, then you will never be without it and God will make you his own, forever. In fact, in another part of the Bible we are told that "neither death nor life...nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
God loves you. And when you accept God's love, by believing that he really did come to forgive and restore a relationship with you through Jesus, then he asks you to begin to learn to love others the way he loves you.
This week at Westview we want to show love to others by putting "Ribbons of Love" on our tree in front of the building and dedicating those ribbons to someone you love, whether someone who is alive or someone who has died. Email us or leave a message (519-681-9844 ext. 210) with your name and the name of the person to whom you would like to dedicate a ribbon. And then check out the "Ribbons of Love" dedication page to see your loved one honoured.
We also invite you to watch this video to understand more about God's love as expressed in the Bible.
Finally, check the website next week for the latest Blog as we prepare to live out JOY through the joy of giving to our own Food Cupboard Ministry and to the Salvation Army toy drive.
